Naradaa is being cornered, from all sides. My shishya
‘Shish’, though brought here for helping me out, has become the biggest critic.
So, I asked him what he is upto, talking all negative about me always. Or is it because 'to criticise is easier than to do' something?
Shish: You see, I am criticizing you only to help you. Now,
don’t start criticizing me for criticizing you.
N: How do you mean?
Sh: I am criticizing you so that you can take decisions. Now
my criticism is that you don’t take any decisions.
N: Tell me one example where I did not take a decision.
Sh: what about democracy? What about Naradaa channel? What
about …..
N: Alright, alright! But who said I have not taken decision
on any of these things? I have told you I have taken decisions on all these.
Sh: But what is the point in taking decisions and not doing
anything about it? Don’t you think we need action?
N: Yes, of course we need action. But action should not be
without deep thought and consideration. Look Shish, I wanted you to help me in all
these ventures. But what are you doing? Nothing. I told you to go and see my friend
– yes, the one who is practicing democracy in his family. I wanted you to go
and study how the democracy is working there and how their food courts are
working.
Sh: I did go there. Where do you think I went for last 2 - 3 days?
N: You didn’t tell me you were going there.
Sh: I wanted to surprise you. But I was really in for a big
surprise.
N: Surprise?
Sh: All the uncles and brothers etc of the house were all so
busy. Everyone has work. Some are in the kitchens. Some are packing things.
There are nice packing machines. Some of the food products are sold in the
neighbourhood.
N: But how are the people? Are they happy?
Sh: Sure, they were happy. In the front verandah, there were
4 or 5 of them relaxing. They were bosses of the various kitchens in the
foodcourts, all from neighbouring villages. All of them seemed to be very
happy. The household people were very busy but all of them seemed ok when I
talked to them. Your friend was feeding potatoes into an automatic machine to make potato chips. Another guy at the other end of the long machine, was removing the boxes when full with packets of chips. That wonderful machine was cleaning, pealing and again cleaning the potatoes cutting them feeding to the frying pan, drying and maybe a whole lot of other operations before automatically packing them.
N: So what?
Sh: The point is the quality of the chips are so good. The temperature of oil and many other things are controlled. What you have to take into account is all the guys working there get enough to eat, enough to clothe themselves and a roof over the head.
N: Is that all what you want?
Sh: What else do I want? I do not have too many ambitions. I
mean, that is what people there said to me. What is the alternative? Get stuck
with the big household with no adequate means or expertise to run it properly?
N: And have you thought of another thing? What will happen
if those neighbours take over the house completely and throw out some of your
friends and family?
Sh: Now, see who is having negative thoughts?......
