SURGICAL STRIKE ON GREED

Sh: So, finally you have given upon democracy?

N: Who said I have given up? Not at all….

Sh: Then last time you said that you don’t believe in this kind of democracy?

N: That is true. It is very difficult to implement the kind of democracy which I have seen so 

far around. There are so many problems. After hearing the details of democracy from many places and seeing it first-hand in my friend’s house, I am trying to formulate some idea how to avoid those problems.

Sh: What idea?

N: We have to do certain things before we introduce democracy. First thing as I said, we have to have a school teaching proper democracy. The school also should teach the following subjects apart from democracy.

Sh: Who will teach proper democracy? If we get anyone from around, they will teach us only the same brand of democracy and then try to brainwash us that that is the real democracy.

N: We will think of it when we come to that. Apart from democracy, we should teach Commerce, Finance, Trade and a few related subjects.

Sh: A few problems I understood from various places are there will be corruption, there will be black money and many other monstrous problems. If we have to introduce democracy in 

NA, we have to find ways to counter these things.

N: So let us brainstorm a bit on how to avoid those problems. Let us think of corruption. What do you think we should do to totally eliminate corruption.

Sh: Let us see. To think of avoiding corruption, we have to first understand what corruption is. Last week, when I was trying to learn about democracy, I found the word corruption mentioned. So I decided to look it up.

N: Oh, so you have not been sitting idle.

Sh: Not at all. So, I looked all about corruption in the internet. I found that there are so many different types of corruption, in many different scales, in many different sectors. There are petty corruptions, corruptions in huge scale, political corruption, corruption in education system, bribery and many others. How to prevent all this? It looks far too much handle.

N: See ultimately all the corruptions are because of someone’s greed. So, it is not corruption we should attack. We should eliminate greed from the minds of everybody including the rulers.

Sh: We have to do a surgical strike on greed. I think instill fear in everybody. If anyone is caught, punishment should be severe.

N: No, that will not work. For people who are greedy, they will try to go to any extent to avoid getting caught, rather than suppressing their greed.

Sh: How do you think you are going to act on everybody’s mind individually to remove greed? It is not an organ which you can remove by a surgery.

N: As I said, with all these problems, I have not given upon democracy, but we have to find some way. We must think, not only about corruption, but also about other possible problems. But right now, I am greedy for your Dosas and I can see your guy bringing them.
